Jackson Whelan - Bio

Jackson Whelan is a founding partner of Ditto!, a unique combination of a printing company and a multi-disciplinary design firm committed to providing strategically driven marketing communications designed to achieve results linked to business plan objectives.

Jackson manages Ditto! operations and provides the technological expertise the firm requires. His responsibilities include scheduling and managing the print production workflow, producing code for interactive projects, translating creative concepts into high quality print files, as well as designing for print and the Web.

Jackson began his printing career at a digital reprographics shop in southern Vermont operating its large and small format digital color output equipment and performing pre-press duties. He later became manager of that company with responsibility for improving its workflow.

In addition, he has experience with all types of printing and finishing. A year of operating the Ditto! Heidelberg instilled a technical understanding of and greater appreciation for the craft of printing. He has mixed ink, stripped film, made plates, and can operate a stitcher, a paper cutter, a right angle folder and just about any other piece of printing machinery he can find. This makes him uniquely qualified for identifying the best way to print a job.

During a slow summer while working at a ski resort vacation sales desk Jackson taught himself HTML using Notepad. Web development quickly became a passion and Jackson spent his evenings learning more. He became fluent in all software on the Mac and PC platforms. He is now implementing XHTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL to build dynamic interactive solutions for Ditto! clients.

In 2002, Jackson and his father Rick formed Ditto!, now with offices in Dobbs Ferry, NY and outposts in upstate New York and Vermont. Current clients include entrepreneurs, small-to-medium sized companies and nonprofit organizations: Greyston Foundation, Greyston Bakery, Enclaves Group, Homes For America Holdings, Hebrew Home for the Aged, Dr. T's Plain English Accounting, Project Reach Youth, Arts Society of Kingston.

He lives in Vermont with his lovely wife Madelyn and two dogs. Yes, he commutes to Dobbs Ferry once a week. He really does, but to live in Vermont makes it all worthwhile.
